My career spans international competition, touring throughout North and South America, China, and Europe, and professional work in Hollywood, including So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) and Dancing With the Stars (DWTS). I view cross-training as essential to artistic longevity and technical growth, an approach that contributed to my success in cabaret dancing—an exhibition form of ballroom emphasizing storytelling, partnering, high-risk lifts, and acrobatics. While my recent competitive focus has been cabaret and smooth, my most deeply trained and enduring discipline remains Latin American dancing. I am currently an MFA Dance Science candidate at Trinity Laban in London, with a BSc in Exercise and Wellness and a minor in Ballroom Dance from Brigham Young University. My academic and creative interests center on evidence-informed, holistic approaches to dancer training, performance optimization, injury prevention, and broader wellness applications. My professional credits include Assistant Choreographer for the Emmy-nominated Len Goodman Tribute on Dancing With the Stars (2023), and I am a three-time U.S. National Amateur Cabaret Champion, U.S. National Under 21 Latin Champion, and World Youth Latin U.S. Representative.

Alongside my wife, Hannah, I now focus on coaching, directing, and education. Together we are U.S. National Amateur Smooth Vice-Champions, British Latin Formation Champions, and former directors of national formation ballroom champions. Our students have gone on to win national titles and receive scholarships at leading university dance programs. My current MFA research explores mechanisms associated with neck injury in amateur female ballroom dancers, with the broader goal of strengthening ballroom’s presence within Dance Science and supporting the sustainable training of dancers across styles.

I am originally from Springville, Utah, where my family has owned Charisma Dance Studio since before I was born. I began training as soon as I could walk, like most studio kids in tap, ballet, jazz, acrobatics, and voice before expanding into hip hop, contemporary, and—most extensively—Latin American, ballroom, American rhythm, and smooth. My practice continues to evolve through ongoing study in voice (bass), tap, Argentine tango, and folk dance, all of which strongly shape my movement identity.

A significant cross roads occurred when I was 18. After making the top 40 of SYTYCD (aka the “Green Mile”) a series of events beyond my control, both before and during the experience, led to me being far less prepared than I should have been (more in my blog forthcoming), plus I just may not have been very interesting on TV ;). I ultimately was not selected for the top 20 to compete in the main event. While I knew I was capable of being on the show, I believe that my fate in life was needed elsewhere. I fulfilled an oath to accomplish a life-long plan up to that point which was that after my adventure with SYTYCD I would enlist to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A few short months later I received my assignment to take two years off of everything including my dancing and schooling to serve and teach the people of Córdoba and La Rioja Argentina in the Spanish language. The result? God’s grace and timing led me to the right people at exactly the right time He needed me there. Only He knows what would have happened if things went differently and I were to be on the show.

My mission set a standard and a precedent for the rest of my life. Not only did I learn how to better worship and serve others, I gained essential life skills that transferred directly to future jobs in dance, sales, and business. My faith is fundamental in my life and I am very open to talking more about it.
