House of Umbra

At Trinity Laban, one of the most anticipated times of the year is CoLab — a two week period where students from across the different areas of the conservatoire (music, musical theatre, dance, dance science, and more) join together in small groups collaborating in a piece that brings everyone’s talents to one cohesive piece of work. House of Umbra is a semi-structured live improvisation piece formed around a pipe and drape structure with moving projections. A harp, a flute, a vocalist and six dancers move round the structure finding shared rhythms, acheiving synchronicity and individuality at the same time.
